Just wanted to say that a "UnOfficial XP-Patch" for all SBK2001 versions is out. All the people that had to put SBK2001 on the shelve due to unsuccessfull installs in XP, should give it a try! It Worked here!!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!! Here's the links for file: www.bhmotorsports.com/download/8913www.m4driving.it/download/8463.html...btw, I noticed this patch turns ur SBK2001 to "U.S." version, no matter what version u had before, but it's finally working and that's what matters! ;D ...now, time to get to work in SBK-editing!!! hehe

I just installed SBK2001 on my Windows XP machine that has SP2 on it and when I follow all of the directions above it goes as far as less than one second of showing the start of the race before it errors out on the SBK2001.EXE file. Any ideas?
My color depth is at 16bit, the exe is running as if Win98/ME mode. The sounds options in the game are NOT enabled. Anything else I need to do?

Hello pwissing29, welcome to the MR forums. Well, the "ReadMe" that comes with the file says: 1)- Run the "UnOfficial_SBK2001_XP-patch.EXE" and install to the main SBK2001 folder (default is C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Superbike 2001), overwrite files if it's asked to.
2)- In your Desktop, right-mouse-click, then "PROPERTIES", then "DEFINITIONS", put the color quality in 16-bit (medium-quality).
3)- Go to the the main SBK2001 folder, search for the "SBK2001.EXE", then right-mouse-click in it, put the check in "Compability with win98/Me" and aply.
4)- Run the game and go straight to "OPTIONS", then "SOUND-OPTIONS", uncheck EAX and A3D, these must be OFF!!!This last option seems mandatory (so all do the other ones!), I once put the EAX thing on, thinking I could get a better sound from the game, fact is that next time I ran the game it wouldnt start no matter what I do... ...I had to reinstall the game all over again and do just like that "ReadMe" says, not messing with those things again! LOL It's been working great eversince. I really dunno what went wrong there, pwissing29 I hope the gents here can be of a better help!

There are 2 sound files associated with EAX and A3D in the sbk directory somewhere that can be deleted. This has solved some problems with othes in the past. Unfortunately i cannot remember nor could I find the names of those files when looking on other forums where I thought I saw/read that. If I see it I'll be sure and post it here as well.
