Hi everybody and thanks for this helpful forum. I have some problem with SBK 2001. I have the original CD and XP Pro SP2 on my Pc and another one with XP Home Ed. The problems are the same on both Pc. In short the program runs and I can ride with Default bike setup perfectly, but when I try to change Setup (i.e. speed gears and final gear or even only tyres type) when I enter circuit again, seems from the video indicator (little motorbike on the downright side of the video) that the front and rear shocks go damaged in one round of th ecircuit and than the rear tyres starts to spin. It's frustrating as I cannot modify the default setup. I have try to install the game several times with USpatch (from Drillah site) or the unofficial one from www.bhmotorsports. I have try to ride with or without game assistant, but nothing change: if I change setup the bike in one round of the circuit have schocks damaged and rear wheel start to spin. Over this also if I change gear's speed or final gear the bike (I usually use a Ducati) never go over 300 km/h. Please, have anyone a suggestion?

Hello Max. Are you sure that no updated files (except noCD patch and XP patch, of course) are in your SBK2001 directory ? I mean there should not be Bikes.dat and Tyres.dat files in the data subdirecty, right ? I would advice you to reinstall in a totally new directory to be sure your install is total fresh. Then just add both the nocd and XP patches. I hope it will help you ! Bye.

Hi Pierre, thanks for your reply. I'm not at home now so I cannot verify, but I'm quite sure I have non files such bikes.dat or tyres.dat in data subdir. I always completely delete EASports dir, after uninstall SBK, and clean the register before reinstall it. If I remember bikes and tyres.dat are added with 2001 bikeset update (correct?). On the contrary I have never installed a NoCD patch as I always use the original CD. Where I can found it?

On the contrary I have never installed a NoCD patch as I always use the original CD. Where I can found it? What I call noCD patch is the USpatch from Drillah's homepage actually (you have it, it seems) : I remember that to make SBK2001 work properly on XP, I used both the US patch and the XP patch (first XP and then US ). I might solve your problem but I am not sure at all. By the way you will still need to put the original CD, but the game will run without compatibility mode (I just think that maybe your problem comes from this ?). Ok good luck, because I have no other idea actually ...

I have SBK2001 running off a disc image I created off my original using Alcohol 120% and the appropriate settings for Safedisc 3 or whatever version ... no NoCD patch (which gave me lots of problems) or XP patch and it runs perfectly Also - are you sure you got a good install? And that the folder is NOT write protected or something strange? When you reinstall, make sure you clear out the registry too ...

Hi Pierre. Thanks for help. I never thought to try this solution. I will do this weekend.
Hi Kamikuza. I haven't understood your post. You have made a copy of the original disk on another CD with alkohol 120% or you have made a copy on your hard disk? and what is Safedisc? When I reinstall I have always cleaned the registry, but I have never checked if the dir is write protected or else. I will also do this weekend and I will post the results here.
Have a nice day and thanks for help again.

I made a disc image then mounted it on a virtual drive. So the file is on my hard drive but runs in memory (I guess) ... Safedisc is the protection system. I think it's 2 or 3 on SBK disc. You have to tell Alcohol that when you make an image or it'll be useless (maybe)
