Great effort by Ducati & Casey Stoner to finish 6 seconds ahead of second place Tony Elias. A 6 rider battle for third place went to another Ducati rider, Loris Capirossi.
Rossi had major tyre issues & finished 10th.
He was lucky to finish at all, given he ran off the circuit on the first lap, choosing to do so on the fastest corner on the MotoGP calender (upwards of 270km/h).
Dani Pedrosa, Oliver Jacque, Colin Edwards and Chris Vermeulen all crashed out after Jacque tried a very ambitious move which started a chain reaction shunt.
Vermeulen was the only rider to remount & finished a creditable 11th & set the fastest lap of the race.

Great race by the front two riders...how about the race for 3rd!! Rossi felt that the moves by Elias were a little rough: "I don't think that's fair behaviour. There are other words than 'unfair' coming up in my mind, but I'll leave them to the imagination. "He had already tried to come to apologise another time after the chequered flag. I'll say no more, I owe him twice, so I'll see him in China." Rossi has forgotten about some of the moves made on former rivals...like Sete at Jerez in 2005? What is it with Ducati & Aussie riders recently
