AHHHHH.... drinking my William Lawson's and laying back in my chair in front of the screen having a smoke...
here comes one long story.... lololololol
...
I started riding bikes back in 1990 (hidden from my folks) in an old Yam DT50LC of a high-shool buddy! lol
I kept bugging the friends I had with bikes and so I kept riding as much as I was allowed to.
Years passed and one of my neighborhood friends became an Enduro Professional rider, so I had the luck to ride dirt-bikes from Honda CR125/250cc passing to a well prepared XR600, pretty much every weekend in the bushes 'round here for almost 2 years (thanx Pedro Machado for letting me ride those so oftenly).
That XR600 is probably the bike I have the most amazing memories, nothing is more fun than some Enduro-riding in a propper dirt-bike with ur mates (that "thumper" sound! ... and that kick-starter!! ...'fookin hell!!!).
My real 1st bike was only in 1997 when I was 22 y.o.a. already, and that was a veeeeery slow Honda CRM50 '95 (I had no license back then), then after a 1/2 year of suffering with that snail-type bike, I jumped to a veeeeeeery-fast Suzi GSXR 600 '97 with 12.500 kms, which was a bit tricked as well (dynojet, K&N, splitfire sparkplugs, braided hooses, Leo Vinci race pipe etc, etc)
I never had the chance to explore the full potential of that "Gixxer" animal apart from top-speed (280kph on the clock), but it got to a point (3 years and 35.000 kms after) where I needed TORQUE on an everyday basis bike, which is something an inline-4 600cc sportbike of that time had... ZERO!!!
And the rest is history.....
ENTER THE TWINS!!!
In April 2002 I got myself a Ducati Monster 900-Dark '99 with only 5.800 kms, fitted some LeoVinci's carbon pipes and a K&N air filter... u want a torquey, musical, fun, wheelie machine.. this is ur bike!!
This is the most fun I ever had on the road, even if this bike was way too short for me, I just had to have this bike!
...unfortunatly, only 2 months later, coming back from work, a "nice fella" tryed to see how DucFreak stands in a front colision at 100kph.... bike to the junkyard... DucFreak to hospital_ one dislocated sholder and tarmac burns (only that, fortunatly).... 2 months of negociating and discussions with the insurance company of that idiot, to get all the money I had rights to.
...I got the money (and some grey-hairs...) from the insurance company and then comes the YAM TRX850 '97 of my brother-in-law.
Very nice bike, great inline-Twin engine, reliable and stuff, but not really the best looking, brakes and suspension... this bike feels very good untill u start to ride it really fast.... it lakes the "feeling" when attacking turns, setting suspensions doesnt work on this one...
argh
Then 10 months later, after selling the TRX, now with 85.000kms, I saw this Ducati 750SS'97 (93 model) very well cared (and 12.000km on the clock) which is what I'm still riding and hope I willl for long.
It isn't the fastest bike out there at all, but I have some sort of strange afection to these old Ducatis, it's the kind of bike I think I would never sell.
...big problems on the Duc750SS NONE (I never had any big issues with Ducatis on contrary of those horror-storyes) yet, I already had 2 accidents, and had 2 LeoVinci carbon pipes stolen.
The bike was already repaired, maintenance schedule is stricktly respected and just fitted in some IXIL aluminium silencers (finally).
My baby Duc750SS runs sweet and even if it's not the fastest, it's a bike that makes me feel good, even going slower (and a bike which u often surprise that "power-ranger" look-alike guy on his jap 600RRR in those mountain turns LOLOLOL).
U can have a 170hp bike, but nothing beats the thundering sound and that "stiff-rude" feeling" of a Ducati.
I love my baby... everyday!
hehe
here she is with the old pipes (stolen):
remember kids! (lol) whether u prefer to just cruise around, or riding ur bike like u stolen it, keep the rubber side down!!! lol
