I've loaded and reloaded SBK2001 using every combination (Win 95, Win 98/ME, Win 2000) and I still can't get it to run . I've also installed the us nocd patch as well as the xp patch. The problem is, I get the game to load and pick quick start from the menu. The race screen opens up and the game crashes. Is there any way to fix this? I'm running WinXP home edition.
Thank you

Do you actually get in to the race or does it load then crash when it tries to do 3D graphic stuff?? You may not have good driver or hardware support for DirectX7 or whatever it uses ... or sound driver & hardware ...

The screen opens to show the bikes on the grid then the game crashes. The odd thing is that I can do the training runs, practice runs, even the superpole lap and the game works fine. When I try to do the actual race, it crashes right after the grid screen.

cool. I found the post, followed the instructions to the letter and still the same issue. I can ride in the training or practice mode but still cannot race. The grid shows for about a second then crashes with a sbk2001.exe error. How do I figure out if I'm running SP2 r not?

OK all, Here's the error that I get.... The instruction at "0x2110e917" referenced memory at "0x0217cdb4". The memory could not be read.
Any and All help is appreciated

Hi Dave. Err ... my question might sound stupid but, do you have the original CD game ? I am just asking this because sometimes there are some copy (wherever it comes from) that have wrong files, missing files, etc If your SBK2001 runs in pratice and qualify sessions, it can't be an harware problem or directX problem ... Did you ever successfully launch another race game on your computer ?

I do have the original game. I got it to work last year but removed it to make space. Now I'm trying to get it to work again but keep having this issue. All of my other instaled games work with no issues.

Hi Dave can you make a post here on all the ways you have tried to install the game, the post is getting a little confusing, from there we can hopefully find a solution for you m8.

I've loaded SBK2001 using the (WIN98) compatibility mode then ran the XP patch. During installation, I was receiving an "EREG failure", but once I set the files to (WIN98) mode it went away. The game opens fine. I can enter the training mode and run the tracks with no problem. When I try to enter a race, the opening grid appears for a second then the game crashes. The error code I get is "The instruction at "0x2110e917" referenced memory at "0x0217cdb4". The memory could not be read." I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times, each time rebooting my computer to get a fresh start, but the outcome is always the same. I had it running on my system last year (running without errors) but had to remove it to make room. In short, the game loads without issue, but crashes when I try to race. I hope this clarifies everything.... I'm confused. lol

Ok m8 thanks for that. Im trying to work out where loading SBK2001 using the (WIN98) compatibility mode came from , This is how i install sbk 2001 and it works everytime 1. Put disc in drive and autorun 2. Install game in chosen language 3. Install XP patch straight after install (do not try game until you have done this) 4. Then do compatibility mode to win 98/me 5. Run the game, go to options and sound make sure A3D and EAX are not ticked And thats it, it works great everytime. I hope this finally solves your problem m8 and you can get on track.

Not yet m8, sbk 07 is milestone. can i ask, what cpu do you have? I remember when i had an AMD Duron yesrs ago i had problems, and i was using win me os. To solve the problem i had to install the game, then i had to explore the game cd, open the AMD folder and copy and paste all the files there into game directory. Then the game ran fine, its another option, goodluck.
